Portland Oregon Trip, 2011

The Stella Maris Singers and Schola Cantorum travelled to Portland, Oregon to perform at the world's largest annual Christmas Carol Festival. The festival takes place at a Catholic retreat known as "The Grotto", and is attended by thousands of visitors at Christmas time. The bus trip took 6 hours each way. We spent an afternoon in downtown Portland, toured The Grotto, then the performance, then the rest of the evening was shared over lively conversation and a little local wine. A good time was had by all. Our accomplished accompanist, Henri Lorieau, premiered his arrangement of "Oh Holy Night" with Keil Magis singing solo and backed up by the choir. A standing ovation!  The only one seen at the festival all evening.
