The Girls’ Schola Cantorum (Latin: “singers’ school”) is an auditioned ensemble of girls from Star of the Sea Parish, Surrey, and other parishes in our deanery as well as from the local community. Directed by Trudi Stammer, the girls, ranging from Grades 4 – 10, focus on vocal technique, sight-reading, ear-training and harmonization for 90 minutes per week. They are committed to learning an extensive repertoire of both sacred and secular music in 2- and 3-part harmony. The Schola has been providing music for concerts, Masses, seniors’ residences, and community events for the last 5 years. This year they will be participating in the Fall concert with the Vancouver Brass Orchestra, as well as at "The Grotto - Festival of light" in Portland Orego, an d at the Van Dusen Garden Festival of Llght in Vancouver in December.
